Middle School 322 Principal Erica Zigelman has been a professional educator with the City of New York for more than three decades, and she has been recognized on numerous occasions for her contributions to her school and students alike.

During her educational career, Erica Zigelman has been a member of multiple committees, including the City Middle School Advisory Committee, the New York Academy of Public Education, as well as the iLead Instruction Technology Leadership Program for 21st Century Leaders. Her high level of performance has lead her to receive the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators (CSA) Principal's Bonus for School Improvement and Exemplary Student Achievement for FIVE Consecutive Years!!!

Prior to her present position, Ms. Zigelman has performed numerous roles for New York City's education department, including an NYC Leadership Academy Residency Internship for Michelangelo Middle School, and a Region 10 Literacy Coach. From 1994-2002, Ms. Zigelman carried out a variety of functions, including a District Project Arts Liaison, NYC Partnership for Arts in Education Co-Coordinator, Academy Coordinator for Performing Arts Activities, and a Dance Enrichment and Talent Teacher. In 1979, Ms. Zigelman began her career as a fourth grade classroom teacher, a dance teacher, and Performing Arts Coordinator.

Erica Zigelman is a member of professional organizations such as the New York Academy of Public Educators and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Always intent on continuing her education, she has undertaken additional training through the NYC Leadership Academy for Aspiring Principals and the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project.

Effective October 27, 2020 Ms. Zigelman retired as principal after completing a stellar 40 year career. She is now a consultant for CEI (Center for Educational Initiatives) as well as NSIP (National SAM Innovation Project).
