Eric Weisbrod is an award-winning digital and social strategist and leader with 17 years of experience working at the intersection of journalism, social media, broadcast and technology.
With experience at CNN, Facebook, Tagboard and as a consultant, Weisbrod specializes in developing and executing social media, live and multi-platform strategies focused on audience growth and engagement, revenue growth and workflow efficiency.
As the director of social media for CNN Digital Worldwide, he led the audience engagement and live and social publishing strategies across CNN's digital and off-platform properties. His team identified key moments from CNN's live programming to publish across CNN's flagship social media accounts.
During his 15 years at CNN, Weisbrod notably pioneered the integration between CNN's television and social audiences, launched CNN's social live streaming strategy, and produced thousands of interactive live broadcasts with CNN's anchors and correspondents around the globe.
Weisbrod oversaw the social strategy for live streaming and off-platform initiatives at CNN, including "Go There," CNN's mobile-first daily news show on Facebook Watch, and "Anderson Cooper Full Circle," CNN’s first ever daily live streaming show in a vertical format. He also directed social promotion for CNN Audio, and developed on-air social integration for CNN's special television events including election coverage, live town halls, New Year's Eve broadcast, and CNN Heroes.
Weisbrod spent 10 years serving in production roles in CNN's Washington DC bureau. As a digital producer for CNN’s cross-platform programming unit, he coordinated second-screen experiences for major television events, and led the social media strategy for all of CNN's DC-based daily programming including "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."
Weisbrod's work at CNN has earned him Emmy, Webby, Murrow, Shorty and Eppy awards.
Most recently at Facebook and Tagboard, Weisbrod worked with dozens of high-profile media organizations and newsrooms, building relationships, negotiating major content deals and helping them grow their businesses and audiences.
Weisbrod has also provided social media consulting for various clients including local newsroom, hospital, cooking/lifestyle magazine, consulting firm, cookbook author and rock band.
