Educator in British Columbia, Canada

I am an educator currently living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I have over 20 years of teaching experience and have taught all grades from K-12. I love working with kids and have unique teaching experience. For many years I enjoyed being the Art and Photography teacher at the same small high school that I graduated from in the interior of BC. After that, I was thrilled to be a part of the Elementary Connected Classrooms project in School District #74.

Currently I am excited and honoured to be a part of the Fine Arts eCademy (FAe) teaching team at Navigate NIDES. This highly collaborative position has pushed my learning on how to teach through the lens of Fine Arts in a blended learning program. It is a dream job and I can’t believe how much I’ve learned by being a part of FAe.

My professional interests range from the visual arts and arts-based methods to the ubiquitous use of technology in the field of education. Due to my Master's thesis and my maternal grandmother's heritage, I am also very passionate about Indigenous education, and, in particular, Métis and Cree epistemologies.

Family is very important to me. I have two sons who teach me everyday. I have four siblings, five nephews and I'm still with my high school sweetheart. My personal interests include reading, yoga, writing, gardening, photography, my two dogs and the outdoors.
