East Side Spirit & Pride (ESSP) is a club that began in East Los Angeles College (ELAC) in 1992. We have many members that are currently active in the on-going activities that we are planning or are in the process of planning for the near future. Our club is composed of students currently attending ELAC and other local colleges and universities. Students from all walks of life, vast cultural backgrounds and races. We each have different educational, career, and personal goals with the same desire to succeed. Within our club you will meet some exceptional individuals that are now successful, regardless of the variety of setbacks in their lives and throughout college.

We work hard towards the benefit of student who are struggling through their college experience. Besides mentoring, leadership opportunities, peer support, and guidance ESSP provides scholarships. We organize annual scholarship dinners throughout greater Los Angeles. We have special service recognition award ceremonies for students with outstanding achievements not only in academics, but in life overall. Celebrity guests, authors, actors, sports figures, and students have been the masters of ceremonies at our fundraisers.

Furthermore, we work closely with various Non-profit organizations such as Father Greg Boyle and Homeboy Industries' Bridge to College program. Bridge to College is designed to mentor and allow an easy transition into college for all Homeboy member who wish to pursue a career.
