Attorney Evan Slavitt’s impressive academic background prepared him well for his successful career in the field of law. Upon graduating from Phillips Exeter Academy, Mr. Slavitt gained admission to Yale University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics as well as receiving a Master's degree in Economics as well. He then attended Harvard Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor and was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. While attending law school, Mr. Slavitt completed a teaching fellowship at Harvard College, where he taught courses in economics and seminars in industrial organization.
After he graduated from law school, Evan Slavitt joined the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., as a Trial Attorney in the Antitrust Division. His next professional pursuit took him to the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and then Deputy Chief of the Civil Division. Mr. Slavitt went on to private practice and eventually opened his own practice, Bodoff & Slavitt LLP. After two years as the Director for a business consulting firm called The Colchester Group, LLC, Mr. Slavitt accepted his current position as Vice President for Business and Legal Affairs for a Myrtle Beach manufacturing company called AVX Corporation.
Throughout his career, Evan Slavitt has authored numerous articles and lectured extensively. He has co-authored seven books, including titles such as When the Government Investigator Knocks at the Door, the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Handbook on Evidence, and Massachusetts Election Administration: Campaign Finance and Lobbying Law. Evan Slavitt has lectured at the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and the National Association of Credit Management. In these speeches, he has addressed topics such as how to identify and avoid credit fraud, crisis management during criminal investigations, the workplace and white-collar crime, the use of decision trees in mediation process, and strategic planning in the discovery process. In addition, Evan Slavitt has acted as a panelist for various discussions, such as Evidence for Bankruptcy Lawyers, A Practical Approach to Compliance Challenges in the International Arena, and The Government Is Knocking: Now What?
