Eve Batey

I’m the editor and publisher of the San Francisco Appeal, a news and culture site focused on, you guessed it, San Francisco. I’m also the co-founder (with Beth Spotswood) of Slow News Day, and am the Senior Editor/Emerita, at SFist.

In August 2012 I founded The Winnower, which was a intermittently-updated site of things I (and sometimes others) found interesting. It was acquired in May, 2013.

I used to be the San Francisco Chronicle‘s Deputy Managing Editor for Online, and started at the Chronicle as their blogging and interactive editor. Going all the way back to the early 00s, I was one of the founding writers for and lead editor (as we called it back then) of SFist.

I’m also the Director of Technology at A Band of Women, a private social network for all women, and am the managing editor of Nothing But The Truth Publishing, where I’ve edited books like our Nothing But The Truth series and Karen Lynch’s amazing memoir Good Cop, Bad Daughter.

I also mess around on a style site called The Pleat, and I dogsit! You should totally let me watch your dog. Here’s how.

Finally, I’m an editorial and media strategy consultant for a number of companies and organizations both inside and outside the San Francisco city limits. If you’d like to work with me, drop me a line at eve@evebatey.com.
