Nothing changes the trajectory of a life more powerfully than literacy, and nothing is as essential to literacy than early learning.

My role with TutorMate is to bring literacy skills to young students in underresourced areas throughout Canada. We help build futures for children who, without this program, will be unfairly left behind.

Our proven literacy program pairs volunteer reading coaches with first-graders in online sessions that take just 30 minutes once a week. Thousands of volunteers have learned how easy it is to coach young readers, and the kids love the one-on-one attention. They become inspired to read, improve their confidence, and build early literacy skills. This work is supported by corporate partners and foundations.

Please reach out to me if you or your organization want to help children learn to read. Your involvement makes all the difference.

About Me

I've been with Innovations for Learning, a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, for three years as the Regional Director - Northeast, based in New York City. As a Canadian, I'm thrilled to relocate to Canada as national Executive Director so that I can bring this program home.

Before joining IFL in New York, I taught business communications and social media integration at the Native Education College and worked with the Vancouver Opera, Vancouver Playhouse, Théâtre la Seizième, Simon Fraser University, and the Bank of Montreal. In the US, I was privileged to work with the United Nations Development Programme and Bloomberg Philanthropies, as well as global initiatives such as the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris, the Centre for Minority Rights Development in Kenya, World Humanitarian Day, and President Obama's US-Africa Leaders Summit.
