Fareed Khan

Fareed has spent a distinguished 25+ year career leveraging his knowledge and expertise in public affairs, government relations/advocacy and strategic communications to advance a wide range of public policy causes in the public and private sectors. He has been viewed by associates as an integral partner who counsels senior executives, managers and politicians on public policy and strategic communications initiatives with the goal of articulating merits to, and gaining consensus from, valued stakeholders.

His knack for articulate message development and delivery allows him to address complex issues and forge networks of influential contacts at the local, provincial, and federal government levels. Highly proficient at monitoring and analyzing socio-economic, public policy, and political issues and trends, he delivers well thought out responses and opinions to target audiences.

In addition, Fareed has formulated practical approaches to the management and organizational challenges of working in non-profit and volunteer environments. Some of the challenges he has addressed include: brokering differences about corporate objectives between management and volunteers; assembling coalitions of organizations with diverse strategic interests; and drafting organizational constitutions and by-laws.

During his career he has also developed and implemented numerous successful public affairs, strategic communications, and media strategies addressing a broad range of public policy issues and communications challenges at all levels of government.

Some of the policy areas in which Fareed has worked include: immigration; human rights; affordable housing; economic development; fiscal and monetary policy; health care funding; public transit; environmental remediation; real estate development; telecommunications; air transport infrastructure; education financing; free trade; constitutional and privacy issues to name a few.

He entered the field of public affairs via the Canadian political scene and government at the federal and provincial levels. He has worked as a political organizer and with the Prime Minister's Tour and Advance Office. In addition, he has served on the staff of federal and provincial cabinet ministers.

Fareed has also held leadership positions on the boards of numerous national and community-based charitable, civic and business organizations in both Toronto and Ottawa.
