Urban and Regional Science PhD student at Texas A&M University. Currently working on researching how well communities integrate understandings of social and physical vulnerability in to their long term planning goals. Also updating the website, Beyond the Basics, that I was integral in creating with examples of best practices in hazard mitigation planning.

Worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at UNC's Institute of the Environment. As part of a team, helped create the Beyond the Basics website. Also worked on a project that developed a tool for practioners to use to track long-terrm, post-disaster recovery.

Research interests include environmental justice, land use planning, disaster management and climate change adaptation particularly in low-income communities, communities of color, developing countries and small island developing states. Other interests include public participation in planning projects; alternative education methods for building resilience; environmental justice; and sustainable development.

Strong adult education and public health background. Experience writing curricula and facilitating workshops on migration and mental health.
