Franklin Epstein

Neurologist and neurosurgeon Dr. Franklin Epstein returned to full-time teaching and research in 2003, when he accepted a position at Audie L. Murphy Memorial Hospital and the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Texas Health Science in San Antonio.

Prior to joining the University of Texas faculty, Dr. Franklin Epstein was in group practice in South Carolina. Dr. Franklin Epstein is currently licensed to practice in Virginia as well as in New York, where he earned his MD through New York University’s School of Medicine. During his time as a medical student, Dr. Franklin Epstein was awarded the Glover C. Arnold Award, the James E. Tower Award, the Solomon Shapiro Award, an AOA Award, and the Samuel Spiegel Award.

Dr. Franklin Epstein finished his internship and residency in internal medicine at Harvard Medical School in 1976. Dr. Franklin Epstein also completed consecutive residencies in neurology and neurosurgery through Harvard Medical School and the Medical College of Virginia, respectively. In both instances, Dr. Franklin Epstein received the honor of serving as Chief Resident.

During his formal training, Dr. Franklin Epstein made significant contributions to his field through clinical and scholarly research. Dr. Franklin Epstein’s publications have appeared in Neurology, the American Journal of Physiology, Neurosurgery, and in titles issued by Academic Press and Williams & Wilkins.
