Fred Deakin

As half of the band Lemon Jelly with Nick Franglen I have been Mercury and Brit nominated, sold over half a million albums, headlined stages at almost every major UK music festival (Glastonbury, Bestival, Big Chill, Reading, Leeds, T in the Park etc.) and made three albums I'm very proud of.

I was co-founder and director of ground-breaking London design agency Airside which won and was nominated for two BAFTAs, eleven D&ADs, four Design Week Awards including Best In Show, a Webby and a whole bunch of others. Our clients included Virgin Atlantic, the Beatles, Greenpeace and Intel; we ran for fourteen years and closed on a high in April 2012. The Gestalten book "Airside By Airside" (2010) tells our story; it was a lot of fun.

I have been a tutor on Central Saint Martins' MA Communication Design course since 1998. I've lectured at the Design Museum, the Barbican, RCA, LCC, Design Indaba and Pictoplasma among many others. I've performed at TED, run animation workshops in the V&A and lectured around Indonesia with the British Council. I was one of the working group for the Gowers Review white paper on the UK's creative economy, presented to the DCMS in 2006.

In the last year I've created interactive art for France's national digital museum La Gaite Lyrique and released a solo album under the pseudonym Frank Eddie. More soon - watch this space!
