food 4 thought

Food 4 Thought, is a team working on behalf of the charity Blessings in a Backpack (People Magazine's 2012 Charity of the Year), was created by five high school students who wanted to make a difference. Thomas, Brendan, Connor, Kate and Danielle realized how fortunate they are and wanted to help other kids have the same opportunities. From their three high schools, Palatine, Cary Grove and Barrington, they started Food 4 Thought locally.

How the program works is, children on the federally subsidized lunch program are sent home each Friday from school with a backpack full of food to supply them for the weekend. On Monday morning, they return to school fed, focused and ready to learn. Well-nourished children have better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health, and increased attendance.

$80 feeds a child every weekend for an entire year! Every dollar makes a difference, no matter how big or small and gives the children an opportunity to succeed.

Thank you for your generosity and if you have any questions please feel free to email us at [email protected]
