Greenwich, Connecticut, United States

Experienced finance executive Gary Katcher holds a Master of Business Administration in finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University, as well as a bachelor of science in business and geography from the State University of New York College at Oneonta. He started his career with E. F. Hutton & Co., where he worked while earning his graduate degree. After getting his M.B.A., Gary Katcher joined Merrill Lynch, where he eventually headed the high-yield trading desk for several years. He subsequently became an employee at the Royal Bank of Canada in New York, where he launched and led that RBC’s Leveraged Finance Group.

Possessing an entrepreneurial outlook, Gary Katcher established a boutique fixed-income broker-dealer, Libertas Partners, LLC, in 2002, trading a broad range of fixed income securities including high-yield crossover and investment-grade debt, distressed debt, asset-backed and mortgage-backed securities, convertible bonds, syndicated loans and post-reorganization equities. In 2008, Mr. Katcher sold Libertas Partners to the Knight Capital Group, which resulted in the formation of Knight Libertas LLC, and in 2012, he co-founded GRK Partners LP in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he serves as the chairman of this registered investment advisory firm.

A devoted philanthropist, Gary Katcher is a national trustee of the Foundation Fighting Blindness, a nonprofit that raises funds to support research on cures for a variety of retinal degenerative diseases. He has remained passionate about this subject since his brother was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa. To help individuals learn about life with blindness, he has contributed to the organization’s annual Dining in the Dark Fashion Balls, which allow participants to experience a meal as a person with blindness would. In April 2014, Gary Katcher was honored as the Foundation Fighting Blindness’s “Visionary Award” recipient at their “Banking on the Cure” event. In addition, Gary Katcher founded and formerly headed the charity CURE, through which he raised money for spinal cord injury research.
