Gene Norman

Gene Norman, a meteorologist for over twenty years now, worked for NASA’s Johnson Space Center for eight years, before landing his first TV meteorologist job while moonlighting at a TV station in Beaumont. His career as a meteorologist began at KTRK-TV in Houston, he then moved on to WGCL -TV in Atlanta as their Chief Meteorologist. Since then, he has been the Chief Meteorologist at Houston’s KHOU-TV and Birmingham’s WIAT-TV.

Gene Norman completed his Bachelors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology followed by a Masters in Meteorology from the University of Maryland. In over two decades as a Meteorologist, Gene Norman has won several awards and accolades for his excellent work including two Emmys and several Associated Press awards.

He has received the Best Weather Anchor twice from Alabama Associated Press and twice from the Southeast Emmy Chapter, alongside Best Weathercast award from Texas Associated Press and Georgia Associated Press and a Lone Emmy for Best Weather Special in 2009 and for the hurricane special he co-wrote, produced and hosted.

Gene Normas is a member of the American Meteorology Society (AMS) where he previously served as the President of the Broadcast Board. AMS awarded Mr. Norman the designation of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM). Gene Norman is also the member of the National Weather Association, been on the board of Houston’s Weather Research Center and an associate board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Central Alabama.
