Kim Gill

I am currently a special education teacher for an area life skills class for student with mild intellectual disabilities in the Waterloo Region District School Board. Our classroom, which we affectionately call Gill-Ville, is located in a newly re-opened technology-focused facility. In Gill-Ville, we use social media sites, web 2.0 tools, and a large variety of devices in a variety of interesting ways to create content and connect with other classrooms around the world. I am a large advocate for the benefits of using tools such as iPads and Livescribe Smartpens with special needs students to help differentiate instruction and provide alternative assessment and presentation strategies. In addition to teaching, I am also a presenter for "ETFO's Presenter on the Road" program, an I.C.T. instructor for the WRDSB, and have lead sessions for Educational Computing Organization of Ontario (ECOO) conferences.
