Gillian Gurish

Boston, MA

In the last 5 years, I have written a social media strategy plan for two small non-profits, proposed and built a membership and donor database from the ground up, lived in 4 cities and 2 countries, held three jobs at once, and graduated at the top of my class summa cum laude. I am a multiple-hat-wearing, Gill-of-all-trades organization fiend. I thrive on problem-solving, keeping systems efficient and color-coded, and helping others realize their full potential.

I firmly believe in the power of compassion, communication, and integrity. I have worked everywhere from the back of a restaurant kitchen to a sunny 5th floor office and have learned first-hand the crucial importance of these qualities in any workplace. I am committed to living these principles every day in my professional and personal life.

As a student in Boston University's MLA in Gastronomy/Food Policy program, I study the human experience through food and the social constructions surrounding that most important aspect of society. I examine how class, race, gender, and sexuality impact perceptions of food and food issues. I received the 2014 Julia Child Scholarship award for my work on food studies graduate students and career paths, and have maintained a 4.0GPA throughout my coursework.

I am currently halfway-through my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training certification with Universal Power Yoga in Norwood, MA. I am excited to teach vinyasa yoga and meditation classes in the Greater Boston Area once certified and to share this practice with as many people as possible!
