Giyen has been described by her colleagues as a "utility player." She can do anything. Over the past 10 years, she's been employed as a nonprofit director at Forterra and Capitol Hill Housing where she's managed everything from fundraising, marketing, IT, human resources, affordable housing, cooperatives and even a gaggle of construction projects. For fun, she likes to hand code HTML and CSS for WordPress websites.

Giyen is also a publisher of online content. In October of 2008, she started her very own personal weblog called Bacon is My Enemy. Within 12 months of her debut, she was featured on CNN.com, Headline News, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Parents Magazine, ParentMap Magazine and the KoreAm Journal. She also became a founding panelist for an online show called Momversation and served as a syndicated writer for BlogHer. In 2010, she was named one of the "Top 50 Mom Bloggers" by Babble Online and featured as a "Must Read Mom" by Parenting Online. Despite all the fanfare, Giyen is now taking a break from writing about being a mother and instead focusing on just being one.

When she's not working, you might find Giyen eating brunch and listening to her teenaged daughter talk about how the microwave is going to give her cancer.

Or you might find her at the dog park with her pensive companion Marlo.

Or you might just find her hiding under the covers on a Sunday morning Googling "microwave + cancer" and clicking on the links ...
