Mafort was born in Nova Friburgo, a mountain town of Rio de Janeiro State/Brazil. She has a degree in Journalism, from the Universidade Federal Fluminense, in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. Mafort began her career as a television producer for "Press Observatory," the first media watch program in the country. She was executive producer at TV Brasil and an economics and political reporter for Jornal do Brasil, before joining TV Globo, where she was a multimedia reporter and editor. In 2010, she was nominated by the John S. Knight Fellowships Program, at Stanford University, as the Latin American Fellow. Her focus of research is the future of storytelling: how to build new stories with the support of the Internet. At Stanford, she participated in the dschool Design Thinking trainings. Back to Brazil, she coordinates Design Thinking courses, bootcamps and in-company workshops.
