Hi, I'm Fred Goodwin

I’m an Executive Operations Manager living in Brisbane, Australia. I am seeking my next substantive role after a few years out on my own.

I believe in four things for running any business:

✔ 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 - often the simplest solution is not only the easiest but can lead to a bigger and greater result.

✔ 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 - don't get sidetracked, do what you do well, get help for the stuff you cannot do.

✔ 𝐁𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 - Think a few steps forward and focus on how you will get to the goal. Many times I have seen businesses focus only on the next step which becomes a constraint and so nothing moves.

✔ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐩 - Conformity is only important within the business itself. Conformity within an industry leads to everyone looking the same, offering the same products or services.

I get change, that is I can manage the process well, and love applying influence to one part of an organisation and seeing the change flow beyond the original focus and influence other parts of the organisation.

With any Change process, my approach is best reflected in this question/joke:
𝙌 - 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙗𝙪𝙡𝙗?
𝘈 - 𝙊𝙣𝙚, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙗𝙪𝙡𝙗 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚.

So the trick is to get the lightbulb to realise that it wants to change. Once you do that it becomes much easier.

While it might be obvious, looking at my profile picture, I am not the Fred Goodwin of the Royal Bank of Scotland infamy.

I am, however, the fourth Fred Goodwin in a row for my family, and have continued the tradition of naming after grandparents with my son being the fifth.
