I am married to Heather and we have one son (Calum).

I currently work at Royal Cornhill Hospital in Aberdeen. I have worked in the National Health Service since 1978. I qualified as a nurse in 1982. I worked at Sunnyside Royal Hospital, Hillside by Montrose until 1987, I then moved to Kingseat Hospital, Newmacher, Aberdeenshire and ultimately to Royal Cornhill Hospital in 1999.

My speciality areas in nursing have been in psychiatric rehabilitation and caring for the elderly. When working in the rehabilitation setting I was involved in two research projects. This resulted in my colleagues and I writing research articles for two major mental health journals, and myself writing several other articles for newsletters and conference papers.I have presented my research work at local, national and international levels.

I In 2015 I graduated with a Diploma inCoaching and Mentoring. My aim is to provide career and lifestyle coaching for nurses.
