Gregg Gierke

If there were one word to describe Gregg Gierke, it would be this: Basketball.

From 1973-1977 his passion was lived out at Taft High School in Chicago, where Gregg Gierke was a member of the school's basketball program. Here, he was part of the First Team All-Section and All Public League teams, as well as a Special Mention All State based on his high skill level. The two-year record for the team was 45-9.

While attending North Park College from 1977-1981, Mr. Gierke was again a key player on the squad, and helped lead them to three NCAA Division III National Basketball Championships.

In his professional life, Gregg Gierke has over 12 years' experience as an Athletic Director at the college level. His official record as a college head basketball coach yielded a 462 win/224 loss record, with 10 conference championship wins, as well as an appearance in the National Championship game.

Gregg Gierke is currently the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Oakton College in Des Plaines, IL, after 3 years as Niles West High School girls assistant basketball coach where he helped lead them to a Conference Championship and 23-9 record during the 2011-2012 season.

A firm believer in the ability of sports to enhance a student's education, Gregg Gierke values hard work, loyalty, self-discipline, and teamwork. Because of this, Gregg Gierke is focused not only on his students' success on the court, but off the court as well. Mr. Gierke aims to instill the importance of helping people in need, and has guided his teams to volunteer hundreds of hours with the Youth Crisis Center and the Children's Hospital.
