I'm most well-known as the founder of The Wormwood Society, a non-profit absinthe education organization.

I've been in the forefront of grassroots absinthe education since the Wormwood Society was founded in 2004.

I'm also an artisan distiller, specializing in authentic heritage spirits, including absinthe. "Artisan" because I have a genuine passion for personally making beautiful and delicious things. I express part of that passion via pre-industrial distilling methods, formulas, raw materials, and apparatus. "Heritage", because the products I make are authentic, traditional expressions of classic spirits, just as they were known centuries ago.

I'm somewhat of an "archaeo-distologist": I comb centuries-old pharmacopeias and distilling treatises for the formulas of interesting and lost spirits, recreating them precisely.

I've been a passionate artist and craftsman—a "maker"—for over 45 years. My heart has always been with discovering, preserving, or reviving the past.

My less esoteric interests include cooking, gardening, photography, mixology, cheese-making, mushroom-growing, and home-made charcuterie.

I live in Seattle with my Dutch-British wife Trinity, our rescued pit bull Lexi, and three cats.
