Personal:

My name is Oren Hammerquist. I was born in Everett, WA (30 miles north of Seattle) in the same hospital as my father. I am four-years married to a wonderful woman, and I have three little girls. My oldest daughters are twins (4 years old) and my youngest just turned 1. I hold an Associate of Liberal Arts, and I am about three-fourths complete with my Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. My hobbies include reading, writing, watching movies, and video games when I can find the time. My goals include earning my master's degree, publishing a book, owning several rental properties, and retiring with $1 million dollars assests.

Artistic

I love to write, and I try to write as widely as I read. I currently focus on short stories primarily in the social-science-fiction genre. I also write light fantasy, mainstream fiction, freeverse poetry, plays, and non-fiction both creative and informative. So far, my writing has been better received by readers than publishers. My goals in writing range from likely to unrealistic. In order, they are to publish several short-stories or poems, to publish a book, to see my name on the New York Times Bestsellers list, to write a screenplay that is brought to film, to have one of my books made into a movie, and to make enough money with my writing to put my children through college.

Professional

I have been in the Army since 2006, and I served in Afghanistan. I have been in the Field Artillery, Air Defense Artillery, and I am trying to transfer into one portion of the Military Police Corps. I hope to retire from the military and move into federal service.
