Hanna Neuschwander is an essayist and one of the world’s foremost “explainers” of coffee and coffee science. As the communications director for World Coffee Research, Hanna writes regularly and speaks globally about the future of coffee and coffee agriculture. (See talks here and here and here).

She is the author of Left Coast Roast, a guidebook to artisan and influential coffee roasters on the west coast. Her writing and commentary about coffee and food has appeared in the Art of Eating, Time Magazine, CNN, BCC, Portland Monthly, and coffee trade magazines too numerous to mention.

In addition, her personal essays on loss and family have appeared in the Sun, Longreads, and Oregon Humanities.

She lives in Portland, Ore. If her grandparents hadn't moved briefly to Eureka, California in the 1960s she would be an eighth generation Oregonian.
