Hans K. Meyer

As an associate professor at the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, I teach classes in online journalism, entrepreneurial journalism, and multimedia reporting. I also research how journalists can create community through user-generated content and social media outreach.

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and worked as a reporter and editor up and down Interstate 15 in Utah, Nevada, and California for nearly a decade. I returned to graduate school in 2004 at the University of Missouri where I received a master's and doctorate in journalism.

I've been at Ohio University since 2009 and was recently awarded tenure. While at OU, I've also been honored to be selected as a Bruning Teaching Fellow. I took a group of student to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, and just this summer, I was awarded a grant to "intern" for two weeks at C-SPAN in Washington D.C.

I'm a husband and father of four, and I love watching my kids play soccer, softball, baseball, basketball, piano and soccer. I have a feeling there may be some drama and debate in their futures.

My consuming hobby beyond journalism right now is board games. I've demoed games for Fantasy Flight and Brotherwise Games, and I'll be attending my third GenCon in a row this July.

I'm also an avid hockey (Go Blue Jackets!) and basketball (Go Jazz!) fan.
