Harold York

Since 1991, Harold York has worked at the forefront of transaction support in all facets of the energy value chain. He began at Exxon, working in several increasingly responsible positions for nearly a decade. York accepted a position as Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company in 2001 and then moved to Reliant Energy in 2003 as Director of Fuel Market Analysis. In 2005, he joined CRA International where he performed business development and project management roles. Since 2009, Harold York has worked at Wood Mackenzie, first as Vice President of Downstream Consulting, and most recently as Principal Analyst for Oils Research.

Harold York is a well-known figure at many professional seminars and conferences. He has presented speeches and programs at several gatherings, including the Argus Crude Summit, the Platts Bunker & Residual Fuel Oil Conference, the Canadian Institute North American Pipeline Symposium, the National Petroleum Refiners Association, and the Canadian Energy Research Institute's Oil and Petrochemical Conferences. York is also a contributor to several professional publications, including EnergyBiz, Oilsands Review, LNG Express, Oil and Gas Executive, and the Journal of Policy Modeling.

As a leading expert in his field, York has provided testimony on behalf of his industry to the California Air Resources Board, the California Energy Commission Transportation Workshop, and the National Energy Board of Canada. For over 20 years, he has been a member of the National Association of Business Economics and the International Association of Energy Economics and served as an officer in the Houston chapter of the latter from 2006 to 2010. York has been a member of the Council of Energy Advisors of the Gerson Lehrman Group since 2003.

Harold York has earned degrees in economics from the University of Wyoming and the University of Virginia, including a Ph.D., as well as conducted postdoctoral research in Vienna at the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis.
