Hi there, I’m Heather. I’m the founder of Resume Insider, where job-seekers get feedback on their resumes from experienced recruiters. Since you’re here, you must be interested in knowing a little more about who I am and what I do (and why). Here’s the short version.

I started my recruiting career back in the mid-nineties, when resumes were made out of paper. At that time, I thought recruiting would be a pit-stop on my career journey, but was surprised at the amount of satisfaction I felt when helping people navigate career changes. I knew those changes could have a significant positive impact on peoples' lives and I loved being part of it. I ended up spending almost twenty years in recruiting, twelve of them at Microsoft. While I was there, I pioneered a new approach to engaging job-seekers: recruitment blogging (using a first person, unfiltered blog to communicate directly with job candidates). Throughout my recruiting years, and even more so when I was blogging, I witnessed the angst people had over writing resumes. They wanted feedback from the recruiters responsible for candidate selection, but it was nearly impossible to get the attention of those recruiters. That’s when I came up with the idea for Resume Insider.

We launched June 1, 2019 with a small posse of trusted “Insiders”; recruiters who care deeply about helping job seekers succeed and who provide resume feedback in their free time. And that’s where we are now.

I am incredibly grateful to have been able to create a work/life style that suits me, and have the opportunity to help people out in the process. I live in Seattle with my two rescue pups and spend my personal time gardening, thrifting and designing things.
