Henry Woo

Henry Woo is a urological surgeon subspecialising in prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).  He is especially passionate about teaching & mentoring students and helping young surgeons reach their full potential. 

He is an academic at the Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School of the University of Sydney and plays a very active role in teaching and research. He has a frantically busy practice in prostate surgery, performing open & robotic assisted radical prostatectomies and the full range of surgical treatments for male lower urinary tract symptoms.

He is a Board Director of the Australian and New Zealand Uro-genital & Prostate (ANZUP) Cancer Trials Group.  He is co-principal investigator of the Timing of Androgen Deprivation Study (TOAD) study and on the Trial Management Committee of the Radiotherapy: Adjvant Versus Salvage (RAVES) study - both multicentre, multidisciplinary randomised controlled trials being performed throughout ANZ.

He has held numerous positions with the Urological Society of Australia & New Zealand and most recently was Convenor & Chair of the Organising Committee for the USANZ 2012 Annual Scientific Meeting held in Darwin. 

He has published >80 manuscripts in peer reviewed journals. He is a member of the International Greenlight Laser Users (IGLU) Group which has published pivotal articles on laser surgery. He is on the editorial board of the journals Prostate Cancer Prostatic Diseases, Prostate International and World Journal of Clinical Urology. He constantly reviews manuscripts for the high ranking urological journals. He serves on the Committee of the Asia Pacific Prostate Society.

Past life - Board Director of the University Union Board, elected rep on Sydney University Student Representative Council (SRC), President of the Syd Uni Medical Society, Producer S.U.Medical Revue ("Mediscare")
