Ruth E. Hill

Kokomo, Indiana, United States

Hello! I work with hot glass both on the torch and at the furnace to create works of art that are sometimes also functional.

Some examples of my work include hanging ornaments, implosion pendants, cups, vases, sculptural figures, and chess sets.

I currently work as a glassblower at Kokomo Opalescent Glass in Indiana.

First exposed to hot glass as an art form in high school, I loved the material so much that I attended Alfred University to study it in greater depth, and earned a Bachelor's of Fine Art degree in 2009 with a concentration on Glass Art. Since then I have been freelancing and creating an assortment of vessels, pendants, beads, and art objects. I continue to look for opportunities to learn about glass, which has included working at a local stained glass studio as well as meeting with fellow artists and glassworkers to share knowledge and techniques.
