"And I've gone wanderin, again I'm out the door, I am walking by myself, down the street, like the night before. And I should be home in bed, but the notion in my head is telling me to ramble on"- Jackie Greene :)

Hello Readers! My name is Caroline Hosey. I grew up in Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina. My Southern heritage limited my exposure to diverse cultures, so my whole life I yearned to see what was beyond my local community. I developed my love for writing and my fascination with Eastern Philosophy while studying at Emory University. Then, I spent time touring the USA by working in the music industry. It was during these amazing adventures that I fell in love with life on the road. In 2011, I moved to Seoul, and I have been exploring, photographing, and writing about life in Asia ever since. I am currently residing in Taipei, Taiwan, and I am sure that this will not be my last adventure! I created the blog name "Grits and Rice" to connect my Southern Heritage to my life in Asia. Grits are a food that are unique to the south, and can even be said to be distinctly "American" cuisine. Rice on the other hand, is the staple food of Asia. As a Girl Raised in The South (a GRIT), I want to connect the two worlds I occupy. I hope my stories can inspire people to get out and travel. The world is out there waiting to be seen, so buy the ticket and enjoy the ride!
