Hugo Paquete (1979) Scientific Research Grant in Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT). Actually in the PHD: Music Sciences – Music as Culture and Cognition. Nova University of Lisbon (FCSH/NOVA). Master in Contemporary artistic Creation, Universidade de Aveiro (UA, 2014). Degree in Fine Art (ESAD.CR, 2010). Collaborator in the Research Center CESEM/ Centro de Estudos de Sociologia e Estética Musical. Nova University of Lisbon (UNL) and ID+ / Research Institute of Design, Media and Culture (UA and UP). He was resident artist in the ZKM/ Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe, IMA| Institute for Music & Acoustics, research in sound composition and sound spacialization.
Areas of interest: Aesthetics, Noise, Post-digital theories, Sound art, Metaphysics, Chaos Systems, Performance, art and technology.
In his research uses concepts about space, noise, error, glitch and micro-tonality as a visual and audible impermanent ecosystem according to spatial and Post-digital conditions. In his works he uses technical elements and practices from field recording, computer generated sound synthesizing, hardware hacking, acousmatic music, audio spacialization and performance. Denoting interest in art and technology interceptions, stochastic probabilities between computer algorithmic, sound signal modulation and programming interaction with software and object oriented composition and performance.
He collaborated with the Lithuanian Artist Julijonas Urbonas to the development of the sound composition to the Talking Doors project that earn the Distinction in the Interactive Art category price Prix Ars Electronica 2010, and recommendation jury 14th Japan Media Arts Festival, Tokyo, Japan 2010 and honorary mention in the Media, Live 2011 Grand Prix, Turku, Finland.
