Icon Capital Sarl

Icon Capital Sarl is an investment services limited liability company formed in 2008 in Luxembourg by Dirk Coetzer and Gregory Upton. The company manages securitization funds and acquires interests in multiple investment forms, including companies and other entities as needed. Icon Capital Sarl has started several sub funds, including securitization funds, to accomplish its goals.

One of these securitization funds, the Firminy Equity Fund, resulted from a 2004 Luxembourg law. Generally, securitization allows the pooling of various types of debt, such as commercial and residential mortgages, into a security, such as a bond. The 2004 law permits companies or individuals to place assets into the fund, such as the Firminy Equity Fund, to better manage risk. Firminy is organized as what the 2004 Luxembourg law describes as a mono, umbrella-structured fund. Securitization funds give Icon's clients an additional option to better manage and reduce overall portfolio risk.

Coetzer, who also serves as Icon's director, was born in South Africa in 1972 and has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. This includes working for Egypt's Royal Group of Companies. He graduated from Technikon Pretoria, now known as Tshwane University of Technology, with a marketing and finance degree.

Icon utilizes outside consultants for expertise as needed, including some of the best legal talent available. The company also relies on other specialists as part of its professional team, including those in various aspects of the banking, finance, and securitization fields. As part of its overall strategy, Icon Capital Sarl manages its funds with the goal of earning the best possible investment performance for its clients.
