Imam Khalid Hussain

Imam Khalid Hussein Abdulla or Shaykh Abdul Khalid Hussein Esmail Abdulla is an Imam and Khateeb at Masjid Tajdaar-e-Madina in Leicester, United Kingdom.

He was born in Leicester, United Kingdom and started studying the Deen when he was young from his mother, who was a student of Habib Umar bin Sumayt, Syed Ahmed Abdullah Saleh Farsi, Syed Abu Bakr Al Shibli and other shuyookh of Zanzibar.

At the age of 9, he started studying Dars-e-Nizami under Shaykh Muhammad Adam ibn Eesa al Qadiri and Shaykh Abul Qalaam Qadri, where he memorised the Holy Quran covered subjects such as Hanafi Fiqh, Urdu language, Arabic grammar, Tafseer and Aqeeda. He then went on to study privately in Zanzibar under his grandmother and uncle as well as other Ustadah, whom he studied various traditional Arabic texts.

He currently works as an Imam and Khateeb at Masjid Tajdaar-e-Madina in Leicester. In addition to this Imam Khalid is involved in work with the local and wider community as a visiting speaker and active member on the Interfaith and HMC (halal monitoring) committees respectively. His recent work has included chairing national conferences, authoring magazine articles, translating classical texts and appearing on various television channels.

Whilst being a British national, Imam Khalid is blessed with being able to speak no less than 6 languages. He is someone who is deeply committed to the service of the Ummah and is acutely in touch with the issues facing Muslims in the United Kingdom.
