ImranFirdaus is a Film Researcher, Visual Art Critic and Video Artist from Dhaka,Bangladesh. Among Imran’s many production works, short films made for The One Minute Foundation, Netherlands has travelled the world from Amsterdam to China as selections of various exhibitions including the ‘Videooooh’ exhibition hosted by the eminent Slade School of Fine Art in London as part of the School’s 2012 Olympic Games related initiative.
Imran has worked on several projects with UNICEF, BBC, OXFAM GB and other organizations as a researcher and an audio-visual consultant. Additionally, he has been a facilitator, trainer, researcher for various workshops related to filmmaking and film appreciation in Dhaka. He was the festival director and organizer of International Inter-University Short Film Festival organized by Dhaka University Film Society in collaboration with Goethe Institute, Berlin Talent Campus, Future Shorts, Balkan Buro and European film Academy from 2007 to 2009. He also jointly coordinated an event on the 40 Years of Video Art in Germany: 1963 to 2004 with Goethe Institute, Dhaka in 2008.
Currentlyhe is teaching Bangla language and literature, 1971: Through the Lens atIndependent University, Bangladesh (IUB). His current research projects are OralHistory Collection: Filmmaking in Bangladesh, Encyclopedia of BangladeshCinema- he is assistant editor of this research and writing project.
