She is currently pursuing a dual master’s degree in childhood and special education. As an educator, Indira Bey has experience in serving in diverse capacities at multiple schools in New York City.
As a literacy teacher based in the Bronx, Ms. Bey taught writing and literature to at-risk seventh grade students. She required her students to keep a daily journal and held conferences regarding their writing and journaling efforts. Subsequently, she served as a writing specialist and fourth grade teacher at Sisulu Children’s Academy. As a writing specialist, she helped students to prepare for state-mandated standardized tests. As a fourth grade teacher, her duties included teaching science, mathematics, and language arts. With an understanding that all students learn differently, Ms. Bey implemented individualized instruction for each child.
Outside of work, Indira Bey remains actively involved with her local community by volunteering for multiple nonprofits.
