Christopher Harris

Christopher Harris is the Director of the School Library System for the Genesee Valley Educational Partnership, an educational services agency supporting the libraries of 22 small, rural districts in Western NY. A participant in the first American Library Association Emerging Leaders program in 2007, Christopher was honored as a Library Journal Mover and Shaker in 2008. Since then he has been involved with the ALA Office of Information Technology Policy Committee and ALA ebook and digital content efforts. Christopher writes a regular technology columnist for School Library Journal talking about “The Next Big Thing”.

Returning to earlier work as a member of the ALA/Verizon gaming initiative panel of experts on games in libraries, Christopher is now the Editorial Director of Play Play Learn. The site provides educational resources and consulting services to connect games and learning, both in and out of the classroom, for all ages of gamers. Christopher was the co-author of Libraries Got Game, a book on using curriculum aligned modern board games in school libraries written with Brian Mayer and published by ALA Editions in 2010.

An avid gamer as well as a dedicated reader of both digital and print formats, Christopher lives with his wife, a K-12 school librarian, daughter, and four cats in Le Roy, NY.
