ELIGIBILITY: The About.me Internship Contest (the “Contest”) is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are eighteen (18) years of age or older and are currently enrolled at a college of university at time of entry. Employees, contractors, freelancers (excluding bloggers), and their immediate families (spouse, parents, children, siblings, and their respective spouses), including those living in the employees’ households of AOL Inc. (the “Sponsor”), and its respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, advertising and promotion agencies, are not eligible to enter or win a Prize. Void in Puerto Rico, all other U.S. territories and possessions, overseas military installations and where prohibited. By entering, entrants agree to comply with these Official Rules. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws & regulations. United States law governs this Contest. Void where prohibited. Entries received prior to or after Contest Period are void.
CONTEST PERIOD: The Contest begins at 3:00 PM/EST on April 4, 2012 and ends at 11:50 PM EST on April 22, 2012 (the "Contest Period").
HOW TO ENTER: During the Contest Period, go to about.me/intern (the “Contest Site”) and follow the on-screen instructions to enter the Contest. Register for an about.me profile and opt-in to the Contest on your profile edit page. If you are an existing about.me user, visit your edit page and opt-in to the Contest. Your about.me profile must specify which internship you are interested in winning. There are five (5) internship categories to choose from: (1) about.me, (2) AOL Events, (3) AOL Video, (4) Huffington Post, and (5) AOL Tech. LIMIT (1) entry per category. If you list multiple internship categories on a single about.me profile, you will be only be entered for the first category listed. If you wish to be entered for multiple categories, then you must create a separate about.me profile for each internship category you wish to be entered for. By entering, each participant warrants and represents that all information provided by him/her as part of the Contest is true, accurate and complete and that he/she is the sole author of the entry. No form of entry other than specified herein is permitted; use of automated, programmed, robotic or like forms of entry is prohibited. Any person who attempts to participate with multiple email and/or street addresses and/or under multiple identities to enter multiple times will be disqualified. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned to the entrant. Sponsor reserves the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish and use any or all of the entries in any manner Sponsor sees fit, including publishing on the Internet, without additional compensation. Any entrant that submits material, that in the sole opinion of Sponsor, is deemed unsuitable for public presentation (contains defamation, inappropriate language, etc.), or which violates any applicable provision of the U.S. Copyright Code or is otherwise inconsistent with the theme or image of this Contest may be disqualified. If entry does not comply with these Official Rules in any respect, such entry will be automatically disqualified. Participants must be dedicated, hard-working, self-motivated and open to learning new skills through hands-on-experience. Clear verbal and written skills are essential. Knowledge of marketing, technology, social media and advertising is preferred.
PUBLIC VOTING: During the Contest Period, about.me profile visitors will be able to vote on who should be the winners. Limit one (1) vote per about.me profile per 24 hours. The twenty (20) Entrants in each of the five (5) categories with the highest number of valid votes at the end of the Contest Period will be deemed the Finalists (subject to verification). All online voting will be under the supervision of the Sponsor whose decisions are final in all matters relating to this Contest. Any use of agencies or robotic, repetitive, automatic, programmed or similar voting methods or agents will void all votes by that person and may result in disqualification. In the event of a tied score, the Entrants involved in a tie will be reviewed by an additional judge appointed by the Sponsor who will serve as a tie-breaker and who will evaluate the entries according to the Judging Criteria listed below. There is no prize associated with achieving Finalist status.
JUDGING: At the conclusion of the Contest Period, the twenty (20) Finalists in each of the five (5) categories will be required to submit a résumé to Sponsor by a deadline to be determined. The Finalists will be required to consent to a telephone interview with the Sponsor and their respective representatives. Failure to submit a résumé by the stated deadline and/or participate in a telephone interview at a time/date determined by Sponsor will result in disqualification and an alternate Finalist may be selected. Finalists will be judged by a panel of judges based equally on the following criteria: Best reason for why Finalist should get the internship; Best qualifications from past work experience, school experience, or interests for the internship; Creativity; and, Conveys enthusiasm for applicable Aol brand (the “Judging Criteria”).

The Finalist with the highest score in each category according to the Judging Criteria will be deemed the potential Grand Prize Winners (for a total of 5 Grand Prize Winners). In the event of a tie after the judging has taken place, the entries involved in the tie will be reviewed to by an additional qualified judge who will serve as a tiebreaker and who will evaluate entries according to the above Judging Criteria. Grand Prize winners will be required to satisfactorily complete a background check conducted by or on behalf of Sponsor and to submit satisfactory proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Potential winners must also follow all AOL Internship requirements and procedures as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion, and complete all required documents for activation of an official AOL Internship program, including but not limited to, an offer letter on terms satisfactory to Sponsor, a confidentiality agreement and compliance with the Sponsor’s Standards of Business Conduct. Any employment relationship between a Grand Prize Winner and the Sponsor will be at-will and there is no guarantee of continued employment with the Sponsor for any duration of time. Limit one (1) internship per winner.
Disclaimer of Similarities: Due to the nature of this Contest, there is a possibility that similar Submissions may be entered by multiple individuals. Any similarity between Submissions shall in no way entitle you to any consideration or compensation from the Sponsor or from any third party, including in the event a Submission similar or identical to yours is selected as a winner in this Contest. By submitting your Submission, you specifically acknowledge this possibility and agree to the terms stated in these Official Rules.
PRIZES: TFive (5) Grand Prizes - AOL Summer 2012 Paid Full-Time Internship program. Grand Prize Winners will also receive a cash prize of $1,000 to assist with summer expenses. Dates of summer internship to be determined by Sponsor. Sponsor makes no warranty with respect to Grand Prize. Neither the cash equivalent nor the assignment of Grand Prize is permitted, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor will report value of prize as required by law. All taxes are the sole responsibility of winner. Winners must return all required documents within the indicated time period. Grand Prize Winners will be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity/Liability Release, to be returned by a deadline to be determined by Sponsor. In the event of noncompliance with the foregoing requirements or if prize notification is returned as undeliverable, prize will be forfeited and the entry that has the next highest ranking in the scoring of eligible entries, will become the potential winner. Specifics of all aspects of the prize are in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Grand Prize Winners are responsible for all costs and living expenses associated with participating in the internship program.
ADDITIONAL TERMS AND RESTRICTIONS: Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to deliberately damage any online service or web site, tamper with the voting process, or undermine the legitimate operation of the contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and/or other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of being executed as planned, or infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, action of entrants, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any entry or entrant and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest and/or award the prizes from among all eligible entries received as of the date of the termination, as Sponsor determines in its sole discretion. Entries not complying with all rules are subject to disqualification. No correspondence regarding entries will be entered into with entrants. By entering, each entrant licenses all rights to the content of his/her entry and the expression of ideas/concepts embodied therein. The entrant unconditionally assigns and transfers to Sponsor all rights, title, interest and claim, which it now has or may in the future have to the entries or any element(s) therein including, without limitation, the copyright therein. Sponsor shall have the right to modify, use, assign or dispose of such entries however they see fit without approval of entrants or any third party. Entrants grant Sponsor the right to use their names, images, likenesses, photographs, voices and biographical materials, and submissions, for advertising, publicity and promotion purposes including posting the Entries online for judging purposes or any other purpose or on a winner’s list and other online announcements, and for sharing the Entries with the local press for viewing, whether TV or print, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. Neither entrants nor winners shall receive any compensation or credit for use of entries, other than that disclosed in rules. U.S. law governs the Contest. Online entries will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of entry. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of any potential winner, the potential winner will be deemed to be the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of Contest entry. The authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses or the domain associated with the submitted email address. A potential winner may be requested to provide the Sponsor with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the winning entry. If a dispute cannot be resolved, the entry will be deemed ineligible.
DISPUTES: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, entrant's rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the Commonwealth of Virginia or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the Commonwealth of Virginia.
