Recognized for its ability to prepare chefs for their careers in six to nine months, the International Culinary Center (ICC) teaches students fundamental techniques and helps them succeed in the culinary field. Through its New York City and California locations, ICC offers the Italian Culinary Experience, a fully-immersive Italian study-abroad program, ideal for aspiring chefs who want to learn authentic Italian cuisine.

Students in the Italian Culinary Experience program at the International Culinary Center begin the course with 10 weeks of instruction in either New York City or California, where they receive hands-on training in traditional dishes, Italian ingredients and the Italian language. When students finish the first stage of the program, they possess a comprehensive knowledge of classic dishes and Italian culinary heritage.

For many students, the highlight of the Italian Culinary Experience occurs during the second half the program, which takes place in Italy over an 18-week period. For nine weeks, chefs study at ICC’s sister school, ALMA in the Emilia-Romagna region, where they learn from master chefs and visit regional food producers. By week 20, students begin a nine-week apprenticeship with an accomplished Italian chef before returning to ALMA to complete their final practical exam.
