I'm quite often a geek, a nerd, a dork, and a dad. I'm a lover of science fiction, fascinated by numbers and base number systems, engrossed by games of logic, and I dabble with code. I work in the security industry, and my specialty is the UTCFS (formerly GE) control systems based around the Challenger panel, including the hardware, TITAN management software, and higher management platforms such as Security Commander and Forcefield. I came into this industry from an IT background, and I derive great pleasure in pushing the limits of these systems by making them do things they may not have been intended to do.
I also specialise in the Bticino intercom range, and whilst my primary job is high level support for these systems, I also assist in basic system design and quoting for installation companies and technicians.
In my personal life, I am pretty easy going and laid back, open about myself, and enjoy the company of my friends. I very much want to travel into space (or at least high orbit), secretly wish I were an actor, and hold a burning desire to turn my many ideas for new shows into realities. I have an ongoing knack for making things complicated for myself, and consequently, I have only recently begun to embrace it. As a testament to this fact, I have also recently converted to a Dvorak keyboard, which I enjoy immensely.
I am not a hipster, and if I were, I would deny it to my last breath. Not that being a hipster is bad in itself, it's just not me.
I am Agnostic. I believe that you are free to believe what you believe about life, the universe, and everything. I, in return, am free to not believe without solid proof of evidence. It took many years before I found the term 'Agnostic' to properly define what I had felt about the world.
I am an observer, sometimes forgetting that I have a physical presence in this world and being startled when someone looks to me directly. Simultaneously, I am opinionated, and though I am stubborn, I am also open to new views that may force me to re-evaluate my thoughts on any given topic. I believe in equal rights and Wheaton's law ("Don't Be A Dick"). I dislike discrimination in all its forms, even against viewpoints I may not personally hold.
This is me. If you think I sound like an interesting guy, I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to use the links below to contact me.
