Isabel Lara

I love museums and I love news. I am allergic to chocolate.

I have worked in the “new media” divisions of traditional media companies –newspaper and radio.

While I was at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum I pioneered the use of social media as a media outreach tool and opened up press previews to social media accreditation. I was responsible for the media outreach strategy for space shuttle Discovery’s transfer to the Smithsonian which resulted in 104 front page stories on April 18, 2012. The Welcome Discovery Communications campaign won the PRSA 2013 Silver Anvil Award of Excellence.

I have a degree in Literature from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Venezuela and a master's degree in Media Studies from The New School in New York.
