Jacob Slichter

Jacob Slichter is a drummer, writer, and teacher. He is best known as the drummer for the Minneapolis-based band, Semisonic, and for his critically acclaimed memoir, So You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star (published by Broadway Books in 2004), which is a literate and detailed look behind the scenes at the workings of the music business as well as the mind of a performer who chases after superstardom with failure ever at his heels. He has also written for the New York Times and is an occasional contributor to NPR’s Morning Edition. He also teaches drumming to individuals and groups and makes frequent appearances as a guest lecturer in college and graduate-level writing classes.
