James Cortopassi brings more than 20 years of eDiscovery and trial technology experience to his practice as a leader in litigation support and eDiscovery coordination. Mr. Cortopassi has managed thousands of cases involving forensic collections, data processing & hosted solutions, managed document review, ESI productions, trial technology services, and workflow-innovation. Mr. Cortopassi is a member of the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS) and the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) Coalition..

James Cortopassi focusses his practice on eDiscovery, hosted solutions, forensic acquisitions, data processing, pre-trial management and trial technology. Mr. Cortopassi brings extensive experience in database management to his work, as he provides technological support, workflow solutions, and document analysis.

In recognition of his exceptional work in a Will Drafting class at the Michigan State University College of Law, James Cortopassi earned an invitation to work as a Law Clerk with Schram, Behan & Behan in Okemos, Michigan. Mr. Cortopassi’s responsibilities included performing extensive legal research, writing detailed memoranda, preparing wills and trusts, and developing litigation strategy.

While attending law school, James Cortopassi spent a summer working as a student lawyer at the Washtenaw County Office of the Public Defender in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mr. Cortopassi managed more than 50 felony cases and argued motions to suppress in addition to drafting summons and complaints.

James Cortopassi began his career with Pope, Bergrin and Verdesco, P.A., where he worked as a Law Clerk for 10 years. Developing experience in civil, criminal, contract, and commercial law, Mr. Cortopassi prepared hundreds of cases for trial, and thousands for settlement and discovery phase support.

James Cortopassi earned an undergraduate degree in political science (B.A.) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey before completing his law degree (J.D.) at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.

Today, James Cortopassi resides in Monmouth County, New Jersey with his wife and children, where he enjoys coaching/volunteering for his Son's flag football team, spending time with his family, and traveling.
