Possessing more than two decades of experience in the medical field, Dr. James Freije currently serves as Associate of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Mount Nittany Physician Group in Pennsylvania. With 12 locations across State College, the practice focuses on otolaryngology, family medicine, oncology, urology, and neurosurgery. In 2009, Dr. Freije joined Mount Nittany Medical Center, where he offers treatment for ear, nose, and throat disorders, as well as head and neck surgery. Additionally, he serves as a Physician Member of the Mount Nittany Health System Board and as a Liaison Representative for the Cancer Committee.
Prior to accepting his current role, Dr. James Freije worked at various health care organizations, including Robert Packer Hospital, the Syracuse VA Medical Center, Crouse Hospital, the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, and the Milwaukee County Medical Complex. In addition to treating patients, Dr. Freije has instructed medical students at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and the Penn State Hershey College of Medicine.
A board-certified Otolaryngology Diplomate, Dr. James Freije has written about a number of topics, including craniofacial resection, epidemiology, and head and neck cancer. Dr. Freije’s work has appeared in many medical journals and books. He resides in State College, Pennsylvania.
Dr. James Freije completed his training in general surgery, otolaryngology, and head and neck surgery at the University of Vermont Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (now the University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center). Dr. Freije graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Biology from Villanova University in 1981. He subsequently earned his MD from the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in 1985. He later obtained his MPH from the University of Albany, SUNY.
