James Merlino Attorney

As a partner attorney in the firm of Hannum, Feretic, Prendergast & Merlino, James Merlino has demonstrated an in-depth knowledge of liability and personal injury law. He has litigated numerous accident, liability, and insurance matters across the state of New York, in both state and federal courts, and serves as supervising partner for many of the firm's self-insured clients. Having received numerous successful judgments regarding these and other cases, attorney James Merlino has earned the trust of his clients in matters of indemnity and negligence.

Attorney Merlino began his career as a law clerk in the firm of Devitt & Spellman, LLP, where he served while in pursuit of his juris doctor. During this time, he gained useful experience in the drafting of liability memoranda, a background that he then translated into his first professional position. Over the next several years, he served as a trial attorney with the firms of Alio, McDonough & Jennings and Tressler, Soderstrom, Maloney & Priess, where he handled a large case load of negligence defense matters. Having developed a specialty area of practice, he continued with this focus and accepted his present role in 2001.
