James Norrie

A member of the business faculty at Ryerson University, Dr. James Norrie also has extensive experience outside of the academic world. Beginning his professional career as the executive director for business performance and planning at Pitney Bowes of Canada, he subsequently worked as a principal consultant for Para Technology, and as the vice president and general manager for client and technology services at Interactive Media Group. James Norrie then founded his own company, e-Venture Consulting, demonstrating an entrepreneurial bent that matched his intellectual mastery of business concepts.

James Norrie’s personal experience in the business and entrepreneurial world makes him uniquely suited to teach these business concepts at the university level. He has also made several educational videos that are available free, at StartMeUpRyerson.com. In these videos, he addresses contemporary issues, such as starting an online business and stealth marketing, as well as more traditional topics, such as building business relationships and finding partners and cofounders for a start-up. James Norrie has also shared his expertise in the books he has authored, including Introduction to Business Information Systems, and Project Fog: How High Performing Organizations Select, Assess and Manage Winning Projects.
