Janet Kovler

Since 2008, Janet Kovler has worked at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, New York. Starting in the role of coordinator of a hospital-based bariatric program, she currently serves as program manager. Her job entails development of all policies, procedures, and performance plans to ensure Orange Regional maintained its rating as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and more recently as an active comprehensive center with the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). Through her strategic leadership, she achieved this goal of excellence for two hospitals in 2008 and 2011. Prior to her present position, Janet Kovler worked with Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY as a nutritionist and bariatric coordinator of the hospital’s surgical bariatric program.

The recipient of a bachelor of science in dietetics and child development at the State University of New York College at Oneonta, Janet Kovler was inducted into the Phi Upsilon Omicron Honor Society. She matriculated at Queens College, City University of New York, where she earned a master’s degree focusing on nutrition education. A certified diabetes educator and certified dietitian/nutritionist, she maintains professional memberships in the National Academy of Dietetics, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
