Jawoo Koo, born February 17, 1974, in Seoul, South Korea, is a research fellow at International Food Policy Research Institute, Washington, DC, working on modeling crop production systems in developing world (think of FarmVille - in Africa, subsistence farmers, staple crops with limited resources on degraded lands..). Jawoo received Ph.D. from the McNair Bostick Simulation Lab in Ag. Engineering Dept., University of Florida (Go Gators!) in 2007. At IFPRI, Jawoo has been primarily working on the HarvestChoice project, an initiative co-lead by IFPRI and University of Minnesota, that generates knowledge products to help stakeholders and policy makers to make better strategic decisions in Sub-Saharan Africa. Jawoo is leading the crop systems modeling component of the project.
