A respected pulmonologist, Dr. Jay Segarra holds a doctor of medicine from Boston University Medical School as well as bachelor of arts in biochemistry from Harvard University. He received additional training with residency work in internal medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary disease and critical care at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Board-certified to treat matters related to internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care, Dr. Jay Segarra currently serves as staff pulmonologist at Gulfport, Mississippi-based Memorial Hospital. Prior to this, he filled a number of other medical and academic appointments including a position as clinical associate professor of medicine for the University of Health Sciences with the United States Uniformed Services.

An active member of his profession, Dr. Segarra has penned research articles for various peer-reviewed medical publications including Chest, the Journal of Community Health, and the European Journal of Oncology. In addition, he has contributed to the advancement of knowledge in his field by speaking before colleagues at a number of professional conferences throughout the United States; among others, he has presented at the American Thoracic Society World Conference as well as the San Diego International Conference of the American Thoracic Society.

Dr. Segarra is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Physicians.
