I am a researcher, writer, and independent consultant specialized in the politics of Tunisia, Sudan & South Sudan, and the Horn of Africa.
My analysis and magazine stories have appeared in Le Monde Diplomatique, Aeon, The Washington Post, and the website of the London Review of Books. My academic work was published in Democracy & Security, Politix, and the Project on Middle East Political Science.
I've worked as the Sudan researcher at Amnesty International, as a visiting fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, and as a political analyst in the private sector. My consulting clients have included the United States Institute of Peace, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, and Amnesty International.
I hold a PhD in Sociology from Yale, a MA in Arab Studies from Georgetown, and an undergraduate degree from Sciences Po Lyon.
