I'm a founding editor of ProfHacker, a group blog about technology, pedagogy, and productivity in higher education, currently hosted at The Chronicle of Higher Education. I'm also a contributor to Wired.com's GeekDad blog, and a regular writer at Bookslut.

I'm a professor of English at Central Connecticut State University, where I'm also currently president of the faculty union. Nationally, I'm vice-chair of the AAUP's Collective Bargaining Congress. I teach courses in Victorian literature as well as a wide variety of general education courses. My book, Lost Causes: Historical Consciousness in Victorian Literature, was published by Ohio State UP in 2006. (Such a pretty cover!

Technological and economic forces are driving massive changes in higher education. I'm interested in helping the profession survive.
